Born on 5 August 1884 His Holiness Dr. Syedna Taher Saifuddin was 81 when he passed away. His close association with this university [Aligarh Muslim University] began in 1946 when the university conferred upon him the honorary degree of Doctor of Theology and brought him into the fold of the academic community of Aligarh. His Holiness was elected as Chancellor of this university on 12 April 1953 and since then, for four consecutive terms, he held this office till his death.
AL Dai Al Ajal Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin (TUS) states:
“A Mumin when does my Didaar, he recalls the Noorani countenance of Syedna Taher Saifuddin (R.A). And in the same way Mumineen who got the sharaf of Didaar of Syedna Taher Saifuddin (R.A), when they see me, they remember Syedna Taher Saifuddin (R.A).”
Syedna Taher Saifuddin (R.A), one of the strongest pillars amongst the Doat Mutlaqeen (A.S). Maula who had possessed the sharaf of being in the Khidmat of Imam uz Zaman (S.A) for the longest period amongst the Doat Mutlaqeen.
Shere Rajab Ul Asab, the 7th Month of the Hijri Calender is an auspicious month in ways more than one. Firstly, this is the month which brings to us the bushra of the birth of Moulana Ali (AS) among other occasions. Secondly, this is month wherein Moulana Ali (AS)'s Dai Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA) left this world for his heavenly abode.
